All in a Daze Work
One of the things that I enjoy doing most for Adorned is making! The problem these days is there’s not enough time in the day to even attempt half the ideas in my head. Which also means the pile of stock I have to rework gets bigger and bigger, and the bag of fabric I collect is overflowing, and my sewing machines sit under the bed gathering dust.
But over the past few weeks I’ve been able to spend the odd afternoon getting stuck into painting, sewing, and embroidering! Here’s a little look at my recent makes.
This denim jacket has a lovely story to it. I was contacted on Depop a little while ago by a girl who was selling some clothes to afford money for her travels. She had some Levi’s denim which of course I had to have. A week or so later a lovely young girl, who’s studying in Cambridge a year, messaged me asking if I could embroider a jacket with feathers in it for her before she goes back to Japan. So, here it is! It’s so cool that it’s going to the other side of the world, especially as I’ve only ever posted something once to Asia.
Original 70s four pocket flares with flowers painted down the sides! SO CUTE!
Mmmm I think I am a little obsessed with painting sunflowers at the moment! They’re just so cheery and happy, never failing to put a smile on my face. Plus you guys love them! I’m panting them on everything I can; tshirts, jeans, jackets, shirts!
And the piece de resistance… the denim trophy jacket! I ADORE these! Both are made with recycled fabrics, and the jackets are vintage. So, you’ve got something as good as new, if not better, and 100% eco-friendly minus a tiny bit of thread and a label. And let’s face it, can you honestly say you’ll find something as gorgeous as these in the high street with an affordable price tag? Just imagine what UO would charge for one of these (probably in the three figure bracket!)
^ This is my work outfit (I wouldn’t sell these!)… I have completely ruined a pair of Levi’s shorts and Wrangler denim shirt, but it’s much better than paint all over my beautiful boho garms.
And finally, I’ve been getting super crafty to make some jewels! These chokers are made from suede left over from shortening some funny length skirts. Unfortunately they’re a little wonky as my rotary cutter is right handed (and I’m a leftie), but on the bright side this means they’ll be going on our Depop super cheap!
Now, for those of you who are looking at these pieces and going WOW, I NEED THAT – These pieces will ALL be available on our website shop and ASOS Marketplace in the coming weeks. Keep an eye out on our social media – it’s @theadornedduo on everything, including Snapchat!
